March 2011: Official opening
During the inspiring visit to Mukinge Hill the representatives of Macha Works, Fred Mweetwa, Consider Mudenda and Elton Munguya visited the NTS. The new computer lab with 50 computers was officially opened. The Nurses were very existed about the computers and internet connectity and wanted to start using the computer lab directly.

Within the NTS Mukinge two Nurses will share one PC and the stakeholders of the community have never seen so many computers in one room. Time for training from the new LITA trainer Veronica.
November 2010
The local hero Veronica returns to Mukinge after a 4 months International Computer Drivers License (ICDL) training in Macha. Veronica has a strong ambition to train the people in Mukinge about basic computer skills and the value of ICT and internet within their own job. A fantastic new resource for the next phase of development in Mukinge.
Oktober 2010: NTS computer class
The team of ICT professionals of LinkNet have started the installation of the computer class of the Nurse Training School in Mukinge. The school is connected to the internet and the first shipment of PC's have arrived at the NTS. Macha Works wants to help NTS Mukinge with the implementation of an ICT supported curriculum.
The NTS in Mukinge provides training to more than 100 nurses. Eventually the computer class will be equiped with 50 connected PC's to provide 1 PC to 2 Nurses.
The pilot program for Mukinge is done in close cooperation with the NTS in Macha and the Lusaka Health Institute. LHI has implemented an ICT supported curriculum some years ago and have the basic experience what kind of challenges should be overcome.
Oktober 2010: "New" Mukinge Works building
Macha Works acquires an existing building at Mukinge Mission to house the LinkNet IT Academy (LITA) of Mukinge, 2 offices and space for workshops and other community activities. This building will enable the local heroes from Mukinge to connect Mukinge Basic and Mukinge Girls school to the internet and train the people of the community in ICT. The new LITA trainer for Mukinge currently participates in the ICDL training course in Macha.
Mukinge Hill has been the first community outside Macha, that Macha Works supports. The community activities will be structured under the new cooperative society:

September 2010: Lease agreement Ubuntu campus
Bishop Mususu and Evangelical Church in Zambia's Director of Administration and Development, Mr. Kanguya signed a lease agreement with Macha Works for the use of 1 km2 of area at Mukinge Hill Mission for the development of Ubuntu Campus (Mukinge). The agreement recognizes the many partnerships that are formed for this community efforts to establishing innovative projects at Mukinge in the fields of managed Internet services, innovative education solutions and research, and others, to the benefit of rural developments in Mukinge, Zambia and Southern Africa. The use is permitted within this context and quite enjoyment of the leased premises is guaranteed.
April 2008: Official opening Internet cafe
Today the District Commissioner of Kasempa District officially opened the internet service provisioning network at Mukinge Hill Mission. Dignitaries from the district, the North Western Province, Lusaka, and from other countries witnessed the proceedings.

Before the official opening took place, the District Commissioner was the first to experience the wireless mesh distribution network on the lap top computer of the Executive Director in his office. Upon arrival, he was able to check his e-mails from within the hospital.
June 2007
Today Mukinge Hospital got connected to the information highway. Preckson Hakanema, Oscar Kaate, Austin and Greg are in Mukinge and got it to work. A Ku-band VSAT is implemented, and the network is connected to this system.
There are still a number of breakthroughs that we need. We face technical difficulties, about which we have ongoing discussion on http://wiki.link.net.zm. The wireless distribution network is not working well yet. With Meraka Institute and TNO we will study how to solve this. Also, the set up for the network servers is not up to speed.
